Golf Courses in Greece

Greece is not known for its golf courses but this popular holiday destination has more than enough good golf on offer to tempt players to take their clubs with them on holiday.On the popular holiday island of Corfu and in the islands capital, a town that boasts an Old Fortress and some splendid Byzantine Churches is the Corfu Golf Club. A hidden gem that has attracted a devoted band of holidaying golfers it is a lush green layout that will come as a surprise to those used to the arid nature of many of the Greek Islands. Complete with tree lined fairways and numerous water hazards you will certainly be challenged by the Donald Harradine design and it is a great place to enjoy a relaxing round.
Two other Greek Islands offering holidaying golfers the chances of a game are Rhodes and Crete. The latter boasts a challenging course at The Crete Golf Club , which is a picturesque, challenging and perfectly maintained championship layout that is definitely worth a visit. On Rhodes you will be able to get a game at the Afandou Golf Club a par 73 championship course that is located to the South of Rhodes town.

There is a local championship golf course, (international standards), very active Golf Club, which organizes an International Championship Cup twice a year (last week of March and last week of October). The course is open to the public 12 months a year and offers the challenge of championship golf course whilst enjoying the pleasures of the Rhodes countryside and the Afandou beach. Designed by the Britain’s eminent golf course architect Donald Harradine. The Club House is very simple with all facilities (changing rooms, lockers, showers, pro shop, snack bar) all offered with the friendly and helpful service.

Glyfada Golf Club of Athens :-
The Glyfada Golf Course is located in the seaside town of Glyfada which is a suburb of Athens. The course is an 18 hole, Par 72 course and was designed by Donald Harradine.The Glyfada Golf Course opened in 1966 and has continually hosted such events as the World Cup Tournament in 1979 , the Mediterranean Gamers in 1992, and for the past three years, the PGA Senior Greek Open.The Glyfada Golf Course is a green oasis of rolling hills, landscaped with mature trees and shrubbery.

The attractive looking clubhouse built of local stone is not only impressive outside, it is comfortable inside.There is a bar, a lounge area offering snooker and satellite TV and a restaurant where appetizing meals are served at reasonable prices.
